The Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Luxembourg is pleased to place its patronage behind a new long-range general aviation adventure: a Private Pilot Expedition from Luxembourg to Georgia, covering roughly 4,000 nautical miles and bringing a small formation of European aircraft to the Caucasus in late summer 2026.

Importantly, this is also a Luxembourg-led initiative: the expedition is organised by the Honorary Consul, who is the founder of the Private Pilot initiative—a platform and community project created to encourage responsible, well-prepared general aviation travel and to showcase how aviation can build real connections between countries.

Why we are supporting this

This expedition is not a diplomatic mission. It is a people-to-people initiative driven by aviation: connecting pilots, airfields, regions and communities along the route, and highlighting Georgia as a welcoming destination for European general aviation.

A decade ago, an earlier group flight from Luxembourg reached the Tbilisi area and demonstrated what is possible when preparation meets curiosity and friendship. The 2026 expedition returns in the same spirit—adventure, mutual discovery, and a modern perspective on Georgia’s hospitality and aviation progress.

Expedition snapshot

• Dates: 29 August – 12 September 2026
• Distance: approximately 4,000 NM
• Route concept: a multi-day crossing of Europe and Turkey into the Caucasus, with planned stops including Hungary, the Istanbul region and Batumi, before continuing into eastern Georgia
• Destination focus: Kakheti, often described as the “Tuscany of the Caucasus”, with time reserved to explore culture, landscapes, monasteries and cuisine
• Host location: Kachreti (Ambassadori Kachreti Resort area), with a brand new “Aviation Village” concept highlighted in the expedition planning

• Support visibility for Georgia’s aviation ecosystem, its openness to international visitors, and the professionalism of partners involved along the route
