Georgia is a country where art has always been closely connected to identity, memory and culture. Its artistic heritage stretches back centuries, but today a new generation of Georgian artists is developing its own contemporary language — sometimes drawing on tradition, sometimes deliberately moving away from it, and often reflecting the personal experiences and changing realities of modern Georgia.

This makes the Georgian contemporary art scene particularly interesting to discover. There is no single “Georgian style”. Instead, there is a remarkable diversity of approaches: figurative and abstract painting, conceptual work, expressive compositions and highly personal visual stories. Different generations and artistic personalities coexist, each offering their own perspective.

This October, Luxembourg audiences will have the opportunity to experience some of that diversity first-hand.

From 2 to 4 October 2026, twelve Georgian artists will present their work at Art3f Luxembourg, held at Luxexpo The Box.

Under the banner Tea Silagadze Gallery — Georgia, Tbilisi, the Georgian presentation will bring together artists with very different backgrounds, techniques and artistic languages, offering visitors a colourful and personal introduction to contemporary Georgian art.

The participating artists are Eka Gvazava, Zezva Saghliani, Elena Kopaleishvili, Georgi Baratashvili, Valeri Mikava, Edisher Machaladze, Marika Korkelia, Tea Silagadze, Irma Gaikharashvili, Temur Gogsadze, Dali Pridonashvili and Lia Xelashvili.

Together, their work covers a broad spectrum of contemporary expression — from abstraction and figurative art to conceptual approaches and expressive painting. Personal experience, cultural memory, identity, nature and contemporary perception all find a place within the presentation.

Rather than trying to define Georgian contemporary art through one particular style, the exhibition celebrates precisely this diversity: different generations, techniques and individual perspectives meeting under one Georgian presentation.

An art fair made for discovery

Art3f Luxembourg is part of the international Art3f contemporary art fair series and returns to Luxembourg for its 9th edition.

The fair brings together artists, galleries, collectors, art professionals and a wider public in an atmosphere designed to make contemporary art approachable and enjoyable.

For visitors, this is part of its appeal. You do not need to be an art expert or an established collector to enjoy Art3f. It is a place to walk around, discover artists you may never have encountered before, speak with the people behind the works and simply allow yourself to be surprised.

And that makes it an excellent setting in which to discover contemporary Georgian art.

More than an exhibition

For the Georgian artists coming to Luxembourg, Art3f is about more than hanging paintings on a wall.

It is an opportunity to meet collectors, curators, galleries, cultural institutions and visitors interested in discovering new artistic voices. Just as importantly, it creates personal encounters — the kind of conversations and connections from which future exhibitions, collaborations and friendships can grow.

Culture has a particular ability to bring countries closer together. Sometimes a painting, a conversation with an artist or a moment of curiosity can reveal something about a country that no formal presentation ever could.

Through these twelve artists, Luxembourg visitors will have the opportunity to encounter another side of Georgia: creative, contemporary, individual and deeply personal.

Tea Silagadze: building bridges through art

The Georgian participation is coordinated by Tea Silagadze, a Georgian contemporary artist, curator and art manager who is also an Art3f Art Ambassador.

Alongside her own artistic practice, Tea works to promote Georgian contemporary artists internationally and to create opportunities for them to connect with European artistic communities.

Her own work focuses on symbolic and conceptual painting and explores themes including transformation, identity, memory, women, nature and the inner world.

The Luxembourg presentation is therefore part of a wider ambition: creating bridges between Georgian artists and European cultural networks, while giving individual artists an opportunity to present their work to new audiences.

Twelve artists, twelve individual voices

The Georgian presentation brings together a particularly varied group of artists.

Eka Gvazava contributes to the diverse visual language of the exhibition, while Zezva Saghliani brings his own individual contemporary perspective.

Elena Kopaleishvili adds another voice to the multifaceted artistic dialogue of the group.

Georgi Baratashvili works with abstraction and mixed-media approaches, exploring visual structure, atmosphere and contemporary expression.

Valeri Mikava and Edisher Machaladze each contribute their own artistic language and perspective to the presentation.

The exhibition also includes Marika Korkelia, Irma Gaikharashvili and Temur Gogsadze, each bringing a distinctive personal approach, together with Dali Pridonashvili and Lia Xelashvili.

And at the centre of the initiative is Tea Silagadze, both as a participating artist and as the curator and coordinator bringing this Georgian presentation to Luxembourg.

A meeting point between Georgia and Luxembourg

The Georgian presence at Art3f Luxembourg is ultimately an invitation.

An invitation to look.

To discover.

To meet the artists.

And perhaps to see Georgia from a perspective you have not encountered before.

For those who already know and love Georgia, it is an opportunity to discover another facet of the country. For those who have never visited, this may be a first encounter with its contemporary creative world.

So if you are in Luxembourg during the first weekend of October, come and take a look.

Walk through the fair, stop at the Tea Silagadze Gallery — Georgia, Tbilisi presentation, meet the artists and spend some time with their work.

You may come simply out of curiosity — and leave having discovered an artist, a painting or a little piece of Georgia that stays with you.
