Luxembourg marked its National Day on 23 June 2026 — the first
under Grand Duke Guillaume — with ceremony, music, a military
parade, and generous hospitality. Georgia’s Honorary Consul and
Ambassador were present throughout. Two small countries. Big
hearts. And, on a day like today, an exceptionally good table.
On 14 June 2026, Honorary Consul Peter Sodermans welcomed Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili to Luxembourg City, alongside Ambassador Vakhtang Makharoblishvili. Discussions covered the Georgian diaspora, business and university cooperation, and the Private Pilot Expedition Georgia 2026 — a fleet of 27 European private aircraft bound for the Caucasus this September.
There are evenings that stay with you long after the last glass has been raised and the last guest has departed. The Georgian Independence Day reception held on 4 June 2026 at Brussels’ BELvue Museum was one of those evenings — a night that brought history, diplomacy, and shared European values into vivid focus.
In the summer of 2026, a fleet of light aircraft will depart from Luxembourg and across Europe on a journey to Georgia — a private pilot expedition organised under the patronage of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Luxembourg. The Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Luxembourg is proud to patronise a Private Pilot Expedition from Luxembourg to Georgia in late summer 2026. Founded and organised by the Honorary Consul through the Private Pilot initiative, the journey will span roughly 4,000 nautical miles and highlight Georgia—especially Kakheti—as an outstanding destination for European general aviation and aviation tourism.
During the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, I had the honour to attend high-level discussions on Georgia’s growing role as a global connectivity hub — and to briefly meet Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the evening Gala Dinner at the Funicular Restaurant.

The “Rooms Studio: 2016–2025” exhibition at Galerie Liberté showcases nearly a decade of sculptural furniture and lighting by Tbilisi-based designers Nata Janberidze and Keti Toloraia.
